OPP investigate sudden death in Brighton

Northumberland OPP are investigating a sudden death in Brighton.

Authorities say just before 4 PM on Monday, they received a report from CN Police that a person had been found in the area of train tracks near Ontario Street.

Trains were stopped in the area for sometime as the Coroner Service was notified.

The circumstances surrounding the death and the identification of the deceased is still under investigation.

Police believe the deceased to be a 26-year-old man from Belleville.

An autopsy will be conducted. Police did canvass the area and are requesting any closed circuit television videos.

OPP say they do not believe the public’s safety is at risk.
