The Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public’s help in a distress call case.

OPP say just after 4:30 P.M. on Boxing Day, officers responded to a report alleging that a man was calling for help near the Trent Severn Waterway in the area of Valley View Lane near Hastings.

EMS, Fire and other Emergency responders, including air support, began searching the area.

“A Remotely Piloted Aerial System (RPAS) was dispatched by both the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) as well as from the fire department in an effort to locate the person seeking help. Also joining the search from the air was the OPP Aviation Services however search results were negative,” said a press release from Northumberland OPP.

“Resources began to clear from the area shortly after 9:00 p.m. Police believe that the person in distress was somewhere on the south side of the waterway at the location however, at this time, nobody had been located.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Northumberland OPP.
