COBOURG

Having allotted five business days to work with the Town of Cobourg on how to comply with its new Emergency Care Establishment bylaw in opening its shelter at 310 Division St., Northumberland County council is holding a special meeting on this issue Wednesday afternoon.

Northumberland County council has announced a special meeting to take place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday regarding the shelter it wants to open at 310 Division St., Cobourg.

The meeting will begin in closed session in order to address matters pertaining to advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege. After the closed session, the meeting will move into open session for public access for the discussion of the shelter, its services, and the county's application for a license to open the shelter under the Town of Cobourg's Emergency Care Establishment bylaw.

The timing of the meeting coincides with the five business days county council voted to allot to work with the town on this application, following an all-day emergency meeting of county council Tuesday of last week.

Members of the public are welcome to attend the open session in person in council chambers at 555 Courthouse Rd., Cobourg, or to view by livestream or Zoom by visiting Northumberland.ca/Council
