A New Brunswick man is charged with careless driving in a crash, which shut down Highway 401 near Brighton Saturday.

OPP say a tractor trailer and a passenger vehicle collided just before 5:30 AM, causing the tractor trailer to land on its side.

Debris was strewn across both sides of the highway. The unidentified 56-year-old driver of the tractor trailer is charged.

The truck driver was transported to hospital for treatment of injuries.

The Highway reopened at approximately 2PM, once clean-up was complete.
