North Stage productions hopes you'll make it a Matilda weekend by catching their production of the musical of the same name at the Victoria Hall Concert Hall.
The Town of Cobourg Community Services Division is eager to raise the curtain on the Tony Award-winning Matilda the Musical – a product of the twisted genius of Roald Dahl, whom you might know from such classics as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and James and the Giant Peach.
Matilda the Musical celebrates the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination and the little girl who dreams of a better life. With book by Dennis Kelly and original songs by Tim Minchin, this captivating masterpiece from the Royal Shakespeare Company has won 47 international awards and continues to delight sold-out audiences of all ages.
And the cast includes actors seen across stages and screens throughout North America, including 11-year-old Indigo Chesser of Peterborough County as one of the two Matildas – bringing the title character's vivid imagination to life through Director Dahlia Katz and Musical Director Michael Spiroff.
“The cast and crew have been livening up the hallways of Victoria Hall all week in preparation for the opening performance on Thursday, Aug. 25,” Cobourg's Manager of Culture Jackie Chapman Davis said in the press release,
“Great fun for the whole family, this will be a spectacular performance with a talented group of actors.”
