Lynda Kay's new job

By Cecilia Nasmith

West Northumberland Physician Recruitment and Retention Board Chair Linda Nicol is please to announce that Lynda Kay is coming in board to support their efforts as Physician Recruitment Consultant.

Kay will fill what Nicol termed a vital role for the community.

“She brings with her a vast knowledge of our local community and experience, having been the Director of Donor Relations and Communications for Community Care Northumberland and CEO, Northumberland United Way.”

The board consists of municipal representatives and community members from the Municipality of Port Hope, the Town of Cobourg and the Townships of Hamilton, Cramahe and Alnwick-Haldimand. So far this year, they have successfully recruited two doctors to the area who have now fully rostered practices.

“Ensuring our residents have access to a family doctor is vital, and the Joint West Northumberland Physician Recruitment and Retention Board continue to work with our local physicians, the Northumberland Family Health Team and Northumberland Hills Hospital in meeting the primary care needs of our community,” Kay stated in the announcement.

The current means for finding a local family physician who is accepting new patients is to visit Health Care Connect – a central service funded by the Province of Ontario – at www.health.gov.on.ca or 1-800-445-1822.
