Consider This Northumberland - November 18: Green Belt / Sleeping Cabins

Recently, the Ontario government announced it wants to turn over portions of the Green Belt for housing development. The Green Belt is about 7,000 sq. kilometres of protected land stretching from the Golden Horseshoe to the eastern edges of Durham Region. Steve Gilchrist, host of Naturally Northumberland here on 89.7 FM, will provide his insights into this proposal. Gilchrist was one of the politicians behind the Oak Ridges Moraine's protection and continues to advocate for protecting these lands.

Next, a group concerned about those sleeping rough this winter is working hard to bring a temporary shelter to Northumberland. You will hear about the idea of sleeping cabins to house those sleeping rough.
