Ultimate Burger Battle: Bringing Local Love to the Table

United Way Northumberland Raises $2400 with Over 1100 Burgers Sold in the First Annual Ultimate Burger Battle

United Way Northumberland’ s inaugural 2025 Ultimate Burger Battle raised the bar for future fundraising campaigns in a delicious way.

United Way Northumberland is pleased to report that over the month of November, over 1100 burgers were sold in support of the Ultimate Burger Battle. With $2 from each burger sold being donated to the United Way, the organization will see over $2400 in donations come in that will go toward supporting local food programs and initiatives, helping vulnerable people in the community.

“We can ’t say thank you enough to all the participants for making our first Ultimate Burger Battle a huge success, ” says Alicia Vandine, Executive Director of United Way Northumberland. “With planning already underway, our partners are excited to help grow this event into something even bigger for the community next year.”

The inaugural 2025 Ultimate Burger Battle campaign saw 12 eateries participate, each devising a unique burger creation to sell throughout the month. At the end of it all, United Way Northumberland delivered special awards to the top performing restaurants, rewarding their creativity, tastiness, and overall popularity.

After tallying the scores, Smokehouse Tap & Grill in Brighton came out on top, making their Bob Burger the Ultimate Burger of 2025!

And the Winners are:

Pet of the Week

Pet of the Week

Pet of the Week: Maggie

Breed: Bullmastiff

Age: 3 years old

Sex: Female, Spayed

Size: Large

Personality: Cuddly, Adventurous, Gentle

Maggie is a sweet, affectionate girl with a huge heart and an even bigger capacity for love. She’s been patiently waiting for the right family to give her the forever home she deserves. Maggie has an adventurous spirit and loves to play, explore, and enjoy quality time with her people. Whether it’s a fun outing or a simple walk, she’s happiest when she’s by your side.

At the same time, Maggie knows how to slow things down. On quiet, rainy days, she’s more than content to curl up on the couch, soak up all the cuddles, and relax while watching a movie. She truly enjoys both active days and peaceful downtime, making her a wonderful balance of playful and laid-back.

Maggie would thrive in a home with experienced dog owners who understand dog-to-dog reactivity, as she prefers to be the only pet in the home. While she doesn’t get along with other animals, that doesn’t define her—she has so much love, loyalty, and companionship to offer the right people. Are you open to giving Maggie a second chance at happiness?
