Sidewalk Sale is back, along with street closures

The Town of Cobourg announces both the 58th annual Sidewalk Sale and a number of road closures that will be in effect as the downtown welcomes this long-standing tradition.

The event will run on the holiday weekend – Thursday, July 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday, July 31, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Several downtown streets will be closed to bring in street markets, live music, extended patios and food trucks, and even a Kids Zone.

Street closings, which will run from 7 a.m. Thursday, July 30, through 8 a.m. Sundaym, Aug. 2, affect four streets – King Street between Spring and Division, Third Street between King and Albert, Second Street between King and Albert, and George Street between Covert and King.

Local businesses will remain open during the event. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes and follow posted signage.

Emergency-vehicle access will be maintained throughout the closures. And though the announcement encourages visitors to walk, cycle or carpool where possible, it does claim convenient parking options.

“Enjoy three hours of free downtown parking in municipal lots and on-street parking spaces,” it said.

“Additional time is available for a free after the first three hours.”

The announcement also encourages visitors to stop by the Experience Cobourg Tourism Infomation Hub at 35 Albert St.
