Cobourg to open cooling rooms during heat wave

The Town of Cobourg is opening cooling facilities this week to help residents gain relief from the oppressive heat.

Lakelands Public Health has issued an Orange Heat Warning for Northumberland County through Saturday.

Currently, daytime highs are expected to reach up to 36° C, with a humidex possibly into the mid-40s.

Overnight lows are expected to remain above 21-24°C, providing little relief from the heat.  During an Orange Heat Warning, everyone may be at risk for heat-related illnesses like dehydration, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.
