The Town of Cobourg Legislative Services Division has expanded on remarks made at last week's council meeting to remind residents of the Itinerant Vendor Bylaw regarding door-to-door sales.
The Itinerant Vendor License is required to sell goods or services door-to-door in the Town of Cobourg. This includes samples of goods to be delivered at a later date, or conducting business at a location in town other than a permanent place of business.
If residents believe a vendor may be selling goods or services door-to-door without the license, they may:
Ask the vendor to show their Itinerant Vendor License
Refuse to open the door, or ask them to leave the premises
Contact Municipal Law Enforcement at 905-372-8380 with the company name and contact details to report unlicensed activity
At council last week, Municipal Clerk Brent Larmer said you may also ask the person to come back later so that you may take the opportunity to go on-line and check the list of Itinerant Vendor Licenses issued at www.cobourg.ca//doortodoor
The announcement added that there is currently one Itinerant Vendor License issued in the Town of Cobourg – to YES Acquisitions Inc., which is selling customer sign-ups for Cogeco Inc. on the company's behalf.
