Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre is pleased to announce that its 10th annual Women's Day Luncheon on May 14 raised a record-breaking $84,000-plus – funds that will help Cornerstone continue to provide vital programs and services to Northumberland individuals and families impacted by gender-based violence.

The announcement characterized the event – held at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre – as “motivational and heartfelt,” featuring guest speaker Brandi Leifso, Chief Executive Officer of EVIO Beauty.

Cornerstone Executive Director Nancy Johnston said there were many tears in the audience as Leifso shared a story that was “truly remarkable and powerful.”

Each year, Johnston added, “the luncheon is a reminder of the incredible community of supporters we have, and that when we work together, we can make real change for women and children in Northumberland County. The funds raised support our programs and services, including shelter, counselling, prevention programming and more.

“A heartfelt thank-you to everyone who joined us for the afternoon or supported and contributed to the event,” she said, mentioning Speaker Sponsor Part Time CFO Services, Lunch Sponsor Clarington Knights Women's Football, Match Sponsor Link Auto Group and Empowerment Sponsor Kinch Eddie Litigation.

Established in 1983, Cornerstone is an accredited violence-against-women agency working to end gender-based violence by providing accessible, compassionate and best-practice-modeled programs and services that include shelter, counselling, housing support and prevention through a support system that inspires hope, creates safety and fosters resilience.
