Northumberland Hills Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce that proceeds from this year's Smile Cookie campaign at 10 local Tim Hortons restaurants will go to the foundation's on-going work of raising funds to support the purchase of medical equipment for the hospital's Emergency Department.
During the week of April 27 through May 3, Tim Hortons' classic chocolate-chunk cookies are hand-decorated into Smile Cookies that support selected local charities. At the Tim Hortons in Cobourg, Port Hope and Colborne this year, sales will benefit the NHH Foundation.
Foundation Chief Executive Officer Rhonda Cunningham expressed her gratitude in the announcement.
“This is an opportunity to come together and make a real impact on local health care,” Cunningham said.
“We're calling on our community to join in and show their support in a number of ways – buy a cookie, place a bulk order, volunteer to decorate, bring your friends and family, and help us spread the word.
“Every cookie will make a difference for patients needing emergency care.”
Volunteer support in decorating the cookies plays a critical role, the announcement continued. Volunteers for two-hour shifts must be at least 14 years old, and those under 18 require written parental permission. You can volunteer through the foundation by calling 905-372-6811 ext. 3066 or visiting NHHFoundation.ca/SmileCookie.
Businesses and individuals interested in placing bulk orders are encouraged to do so in advance. Visit NHHFoundation.ca/SmileCookie to access a Bulk Order form and submit it to your local Tim Hortons at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled pick-up date and time.
