BECN calls for Starter Company Growth Program applications
By Cecilia Nasmith
Until April 13, the Business and Entrepreneurship Centre Northumberland is welcoming applications for its Starter Company Growth Program.
Designed to support local businesses and fuel economic growth, the program offers a range of help, from refining business strategies to pursuing new opportunities, mentorship, hands-on training and even a micro-grant of up to $3,500.
BECN offers a wide range of free programs, tools and advisory services for businesses at every stage, from start-up to expansion.
Supported by the Province of Ontario, the Starter Company Growth Program is designed to help small business owners in Northumberland grow, innovate and succeed in today's challenging marketplace. It is ideal for entrepreneurs looking to expand or reach new markets, hoping to hire and grow their team, or planning a launch of new products or services. Elgible businesses must have been operating full-time in Northumberland for at least six months.
The announcement shared two local success stories.
Sam Brown of Sam Brown Handyman Services combines Brown's carpentry expertise with a new wellness-focused offering – custom-built mobile saunas. The program helped him develop and launch this new venture.
Stuart Embree of The Pink Cafe was looking for ways to increase customer traffic during slower period. Support from this program helped his business improve purchasing efficiency and expand marketing efforts tied to such community events as Cobourg's Annual EDM Coffee Party.
Spaces in the program are limited, and offered through a competitive process (and not all applicants will receive a micro grant).
