Tickets go on sale Feb. 19 for the seventh annual Handbags for Hospice fundraiser on April 9, with organizers promising some new twists.

The Ed's House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation has re-imagined the event to bring new energy to the proceedings, while keeping the elements guests know and love.

Attendees can look forward to the Golden Ticket Draw, photo booth, candy bar, mystery bags, wine wall and a live auction with an exciting new feature – this year, guests can browse and bid on silent-auction items right from their phones using a new on-line bidding platform.

The excitement continues with the addition of Layne, the Auctionista, who will lead the powerful Gift From The Heart portion of the evening. This keynote speaker and fundraising powerhouse has more than 1,700 events to her credit (with more than $70-million in charitable proceeds raised) with her unstoppable energy, quick wit and motivational storytelling that makes everyone feel seen, connected and inspired to give.

And every dollar raised helps the care team at Ed's House provide such essential services as volunteer hospice support, in-home visiting hospice, education, grief-and-bereavement counselling, and end-of-life care in their 10-suite hospice residence – all of which are offered at no cost to the families they serve.

“Handbags for Hospice is a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together with heart and purpose,” Community Care Northumberland Chief Executive Officer Jordan Prosper said in the announcement.
“Every handbag helps ensure individuals and families in Northumberland County receive compassionate, dignified hospice care when they need it most.”

The event takes place at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre, and tickets are $125 each, available at www.handbagsforhospice.ca

The foundation extends sincere thanks to this year's generous sponsors, including Presenting Sponsor Jacqueline Pennington of RE/MAX Hallmark and Gift From The Heart sponsor Tony Pulla of RE/MAX Rouge River Realty Ltd.
