The Cobourg and District Sports Hall of Fame will announce its 2026 inductees Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Baltimore Community Centre.

The press release also carries the announcement of Cobourg Foodland as the Signature Sponsor of this year's event.

The area covered by the hall of fame includes not only Cobourg, but also the Townships of Hamilton, Cramahe and Alnwick-Haldimand, as well as Alderville First Nation.

The Cobourg and District Sports Hall of Fame is grateful to the Baltimore Community Centre for providing cabinet space to showcase accomplishments and memorabilia of a number of past Hall of Famers, including Jen Ashley, Lynn Bottoms, Layton Dodge, Don Ito, Jerry Lawless and Denine Page. The Great Hall at the Cobourg Community Centre also has display cabinets that spotlight other recipients of this honour.

Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini will be on hand to present Certificates of Congratulations to Hall of Fame inductees from 2022.

The first group of inductees was announced in 2019, the result of the work of a committed team of volunteers who gathered and organized sports memorabilia and historical records with the aim of safeguarding these communities' valuable sporting heritage. They continue to benefit from both financial support and contributions of materials and services generously provided by local individuals and groups.

For this year's inductees, a dedicated selection committee has carefully reviewed all submissions. Following Sunday's announcement, this group will be honoured at the official induction ceremony June 19 at the Cobourg Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn and Convention Centre.
