First responders in Northumberland are conducting a Christmas toy drive. Firefighters in Trent Hills and the provincial police are encouraging community members to donate new, unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items to help support children, individuals, and families during the holiday season. The Trent Hills Fire Department will be hosting donation collection events at Canadian Tire and Giant Tiger in Campbellford on Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
"The continued generosity of our community helps ensure local families receive support when they need it most. Donations of toys and food can have a tremendous impact, bringing comfort, joy and hope during the holiday season," said Fire Chief Shawn Jamieson, Municipality of Trent Hills Fire Department.
The OPP detachment in Brighton, Campbellford and Cobourg are receiving donations daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"One of the greatest strengths of Northumberland County is the willingness of residents to support one another. Whether it's a toy for a child or food for a family facing challenges, every donation can make a meaningful difference during the holiday season," explained Constable James Clarke, Media and Community Engagement Officer of Northumberland OPP.
The annual toy drive distribution evening will take place on Tuesday, December 15, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in Campbellford.
