More than 130 new trees were planted at Port Hope's Raply Park Sunday, as community volunteers, council members and TD executives joined the municipality's Environmental Advisory Committee for a successful TD Tree Days event.

Pre-registered volunteers of all ages spent the afternoon on work that enhances the local green space, contributes to the long-term health of the environment and help's grow the municipality's urban forest.

Port Hope was among 75 participating communities taking part in this year's event, which sees TD work with local not-for-profits, municipalities, conservation authorities and Indigenous communities to bring planting events to life.

Throughout the afternoon, local volunteers learned proper planting techniques from certified arbourist and Environmental Advisory Committee member Josh Bobyk before working side-by-side on the planting. The newly planted trees will help improve local biodiversity, enhance wildlife habitat, contribute to cleaner air and strengthen the community's tree canopy.

The municipality extends thanks to TD Friends of the Environment, members of the Environmental Advisory Committee, and all the volunteers who dedicated their time and energy to making the event a success.
