The Town of Cobourg is advising residents and visitors of downtown and waterfront closures Saturday, Oct. 24, required to accommodate two events – the Downtown Business Improvement Area Trick or Treat event and the second weekend of the Marina's boat lift-out and hauling operations.

To complete the marina operations safely, the Esplanade (including the east and west parking lots) will close early – Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. through Sunday, Oct. 25, at 5 p.m. - as will Division Street south of the Esplanade.

Not fully closed will be Hibernia Street south of Third and Third Street between Hibernia and the Esplanade – though delays are expected. Pedestrian access will also be restricted in areas where heavy equipment is operating, though every effort will be made to reopen roads and walkways when it is safe to do so,

The Trick or Treat event, which gives children the opportunity to trick-or-treat at downtown businesses, will necessitate closures from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday – Second Street between King and Albert, Third Street between Albert and King, and King Street West between Spring and Division. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes and follow posted signage during tis time.

Motorists are also reminded that municipal parking is currently in the low-season phase, with the first three hours free (after which regular parking rates apply – for more information, visit cobourg.ca/parking).
