Charges laid in alleged Cobourg fraud investigation

Three Peterborough people are charged following an alleged fraud investigation in Northumberland County.

OPP claim in March, officers were contacted by a representative of Community Care Northumberland regarding funds allegedly misappropriated by a former employee.

The organization reported that approximately $140,000 had been transferred to unauthorized individuals under the pretense of transportation services.

The transactions were believed to have occurred between October 2021 and February 2025.

Following a  six month investigation, two people were arrested in September. 12, with the third person arrested a week later. The accused will appear in court in October.
