A chance for young people to learn more about career opportunities in the province's 144 registered skilled trades comes to Grafton Sept. 17 and 18 when the Level Up! Skilled Trades Career Fair runs at the Haldimand Community Memorial Arena.
Students, parents and community members are invited to a public open house at the arena Sept. 17 from 3 to 7:30 p.m. for a chance to visit and interact with the exhibits.
One of 12 such events in the province, this initiative is targeted to students in Grades 7 to 12 (as well as parents and young job seekers) to provide a chance to learn more about these career opportunities through interactive exhibits, safe hand-on activities and the chance to talk with experienced tradespeople and employers.
“Ontario's greatest strength is our skilled world-class work force,” Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development David Piccini said in the announcement.
“That's why our government is investing in training and career opportunities like the Level Up! Career fairs that are helping thousands of young people discover good-paying careers in the trades.”
“Building a strong and resilient work force starts with giving young people real exposure to the skilled trades,” STO Chief Executive Officer Candice White stated.
“We're proud to work alongside the Ontario government to deliver these fairs, which are opening doors for thousands of young people to discover rewarding careers in the skilled trades – and building the work force Ontario needs for the future.”
