A county-wide burn ban is now in effect, due to increased fire risk and poor air quality.

The ban is in place to help reduce wildfire risk and protect public safety. This decision was made in response to the extremely dry conditions and deteriorating air quality caused by ongoing wildland fires in Ontario and Manitoba.

Effective Wednesday, all forms of outdoor burning are prohibited. This includes backyard fire pits, brush burning, agricultural fires, fireworks, and any fires not contained within CSA-approved outdoor appliances, where such appliances are permitted.

All current permit holders will receive direct notice. Residents who ignore the ban may face fines or charges under the Ontario Fire Code or municipal by-laws.

The ban will remain in effect until further notice or until conditions improve. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any signs of fire to Fire and Emergency Services immediately.
