A 29-year-old Cobourg man is facing drug possession charges following police response to a disturbance Tuesday night.

Police say officers were called to a home near James Street West and George Street around 8:30 P.M., after a caller reported hearing sounds suggesting someone was being assaulted inside the unit. They conducted a door knock, then entered the residence to check on the welfare of those inside. While they did not find evidence of an assault, officers allegedly found various controlled substances in plain view throughout the residence.

The man is charged with four counts of possession drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, and unknown pills.

He was released on an undertaking with a future court date.
