Cobourg man charged with theft

A Cobourg man is facing theft charges, following reports of suspicious activity on July 30.

Police allege that sometime overnight, a person was accused of trying to enter into several vehicles in the Fairbanks Road area.

One vehicle was entered, and approximately $800 of personal property was taken.

A suspect was identified through video footage.

On Sunday he was arrested by officers downtown after a brief foot chase.

The unidentified suspect was charged with theft under $500.
