The Northumberland United Way is revamping how it funds community projects.

The agency’s new model will feature four distinct funding streams, centred on tackling food security and poverty with children, housing stability, free menstrual products and encouraging healthy nutrition programs.

The United Way is attempting to be more transparent and responsive to how it grows in the County.

Executive Director Alicia Vandine says the United Way is looking at stretching its dollars to accomplish more in the county, which are the most pressing needs and priorities in the region.

Most importantly she explains that the funding is intended to deliver real change for individuals and families.
