Cobourg woman charged with assaulting a police officer

A Cobourg woman is charged with assaulting a police officer in an incident Wednesday evening.

Authorities were called to a home in the north end of town to a disturbance on the front lawn.

As the investigation was proceeding, the woman allegedly became irate, striking the officer in the chest with an object.

The woman was held for a bail hearing.
