Cobourg

The lowered flags in the Town of Cobourg are in honour of Information Technology Supervisor Ronald Jeschke's passing on March 21.

The Town of Cobourg announces the lowering of its flags to half-staff to mark the passing of Town of Cobourg Information Technology Supervisor Ronald Jeschke.

A dedicated town employee for 10 years, Jeschke assisted with the transformation of Venture 13, the modernization of security and information systems, and the introduction of Wi-Fi at the Marina and Campground. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when so many were forced to pivot to remote work, he ensured the continuity of town business.

A long-time Cobourg resident, he loved sharing stories of growing up in a close-knit community.

“His relentless work ethic, incredible aptitude and never-ending list of jokes made him an invaluable employee and treasured colleagues. He will be greatly missed by his many friends,” the announcement said.

Predeceased by his adoring wife Jacqueline, he was a loving father to Cassandra, Katrina, Josh and the late Shelby. He devoted all his spare time to his children – driving across Ontario to catch a baseball game or horse race, or putting on elaborate six-course meals

As per town policy, flags will be lowered for 72 hours, and lowered again for the day of Jeschke's celebration of life (scheduled for June 18).
