Second job fair planned for Post employees

By Cecilia Nasmith

Following a Nov. 18 job fair – where 150 employees who will be affected by the year-end closure of the Post Consumer Brands Cobourg facility – the Save the Jobs Task Force announces a second one Nov. 25.

Manufacturers interested in participating are asked to call Human Resources Manager Brittney Gillard at 905-372-5441 ext. 4232.

This is the latest news from the Task Force, formed after the April 9 announcement that production at the Cobourg facility would cease by December, with a mandate to identify, market, recruit and secure a new company to fill the gap and replace the lost jobs.

In the interim, the Save the Jobs Task Force has met regularly with Post Consumer Brands leadership and real estate representatives to market the property and attract suitable business investments. Manufacturers looking to expand their operations to or within Cobourg can be provided a tour of the facility by Post real estate representatives – some staff will remain onsite into the first quarter of 2026 to support the plant's transition from food production and assist in preparing the building for its next user.

“Supporting local families through this transition has been at the centre of our work,” Mayor Lucas Cleveland said in the announcement.

“Our focus is on helping employees find new opportunities, while ensuring this important industrial asset is positioned for strong future investment. We remain committed to protecting jobs and strengthening Cobourg's economic future.”

Along with Cleveland, the task force consists of Cobourg Manager of Economic Development Daniel Van Kampen, Northumberland County Investment Attraction Officer Thomas Flynn, Post Holdings Inc. Senior Site Director David Heaven, Northam Industrial Park Property Manager Sandra Arthur, Northumberland Manufacturers Association Managing Director Darla Price, and Cobourg Councillor Randy Barber.
