The Town of Cobourg is pleased to announce the appointment of Lacricia Turner as its new Director of Community Services.
The announcement noted Turner “is an experienced management leader with a diverse background in recreation and leisure. She has more than two decades of experience as a public-sector professional, including serving in multiple roles with the City of Kingston, most recently as Director of Recreation and Leisure Services.”
In welcoming Turner to town, Chief Administrative Officer Tracey Vaughan noted that her expertise will be welcome as the town continues to develop its new Parks and Recreation Master Plan.
Her background includes recreation programming, facility operations and maintenance, asset management, special events, parks and sports fields, community development, marinas, waterfront master planning and building community partnerships.
In her new role, she will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team, council, the Parks and Recreation Master Plan Task Force and community volunteers to deliver innovative and consistent programs, facilities and services that meet community needs.
Turner is already well acquainted with Cobourg's recreational community from time spent at the Cobourg Community Centre with her family. She said she has always appreciated the facility, the friendly staff and the welcoming community. She said in the announcement that she is honoured to step into her new role.
“I'm eager to support and enhance the programs, spaces and experiences that make Cobourg such a vibrant place to live and visit,” she stated.
“I look forward to working closely with residents, staff and community partners to build on the great work already underway and to help shape a welcoming, engaging future for everyone who calls Cobourg home.”
