Cobourg Police say an elderly person fell victim to distraction theft.

It's alleged that on Saturday, two individuals in a black vehicle attended a home on Westwood Drive engaging the 86-year-old homeowner in conversation outside.

During the interaction, one individual displayed various pieces of jewelry, including rings and necklaces, while covertly removing jewelry the homeowner was wearing.

The suspects apparently left with the victim’s property. The investigation is ongoing.
