OPP are investigating a collision which sent one vehicle into the Trent River in Campbellford.

Early Tuesday morning, EMS, fire, and police responded to Ranney Gorge Drive and Seymour Quarry Road after two people exited the river and required hospital treatment.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit was brought in to assist in the search.

Officers located a submerged pickup truck and confirmed that no persons were inside.

After pulling the truck from the water and searching it Wednesday, it is believed the items inside belonged to the two people exiting the river and it is not suspected that anyone else was inside the vehicle.

The investigation continues.
