Cobourg Police investigate potential landscaping scammers

File photo.

Cobourg Police are investigating alleged landscaping scams. In recent reports, people entered into verbal agreements for property-related work.

Victims have reported sending money, often via e-transfer, with the expectation that the work will be completed.

In all cases, no work was performed, and communication from the suspect ceased. Recent reports amount to over $50,000 in losses for victims.

Authorities caution people to properly vet proposed contractors, get detailed quotes and not to pay in full prior to the work being complete.
