Cobourg man faces assault charge

A Cobourg man is facing charges, following an alleged domestic incident Wednesday.

Police were called to a home just before midnight, claiming a man had pushed his partner onto a bed while holding a large knife.

The partner was allegedly cut by the knife. Authorities assert the man also threatened the partner.

The unidentified 54-year-old man is charged with assault with a weapon, and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm towards a spouse.

The man was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing.
