Cobourg man facing weapons charges

A 45-year-old Cobourg man was arrested following a weapons call Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., police responded to a report in the area of King Street West and Forth Street in Cobourg.  Two youths reported being approached by a man with a knife.  Police arrived on scene and arrested the suspect. No injuries were sustained during the interaction, and no physical contact was made.

Following an investigation, Luke Bateman was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Uttering Threats.

The man met the criteria for release and was released on an Undertaking with a future court date.
