Port Hope's Capitol Theatre has been honoured with five nominations for the 2024 BroadwayWorld Toronto awards, including Favourite Local Theatre

Port Hope's Capitol Theatre announced two pieces of big news Thursday.

One – they have received five nominations for the 2024 BroadwayWorld Toronto awards, and...

Two – you are invited to cast your ballot.

The nominations are:

Best Performer in a Play (professional) – From the production of Bed & Breakfast, both Amir Haidar and Kyle Golemba have been nominated

Best Direction in a Play (professional) – The Capitol's own artistic director Rob Kempson has been nominated for Bed & Breakfast


Best Costume Design (professional) – Joyce Padua for her work on The Full Monty

Favourite Local Theatre – The Capitol

These awards honour regional productions, touring shows and other productions that had a first performance between Oct. 1, 2023, and Sept. 30, 2024, and nominees come from more than 100 cities across Canada, the US, Europe, Asia, and Central and South America. Local editors set the categories, readers submit nominations, and – until Dec. 31 – you get to vote.
