Responsible, Respectful Representation is my commitment to you. Stepping into municipal leadership is more than a role, it is a commitment to serving you with transparency, respect and forward thinking. Our work should improve your life.

As Deputy Mayor I will prioritize building positive relationships. I will foster a culture of respect by working cooperatively with Council members, staff, and volunteers. Voters can expect the person they elect represents them in the best possible way. I have provided consistent, straightforward representation. Discussions with taxpayers reflect that they trust me to do the job.

Leadership roles in the community are not new to me. Currently, I am involved with 4-H, The Help and Legal Centre, and the Intermunicipal Task Force on Housing. Municipal leaders must be adept at policy development and demonstrate financial stewardship. My goal is to address our infrastructure deficit by implementing Asset Management based budgets. These budgets allow us to replace our crumbling assets in a consistent manner and ensure grant eligibility for projects. I voted against the 2026 budget because of the lack of asset planning and the reliance on fundraising to repair the arena would leave the township liable for costs fundraising may not cover. Fixing our assets must be a priority. There should be no surprises where our money is being spent.

28% of the people in AH are using food banks and over 300 families live in inadequate homes. Housing is a priority. We need to meet the needs of all residents. Learn more about me and my priorities at https://www.marycatherineforcouncil.ca/

I am Mary Catherine O’Neill. I am running for Deputy Mayor in Alnwick Haldimand. I am ready to bring Respectful, Responsible Representation back to Council on your behalf. We can do better.
