l feel ALTO HSR is the biggest issue facing our community over the next four years. We need to continue to oppose it going through our community, not sign NDAs and insist on full transparency. We should team up with other like minded Eastern and Central Ontario municipalities in opposing it. If all else fails, ensure municipality doesn't get saddled with costs of rerouting dead end roads and repairing the ones destroyed by Alto, and advocate for a route that creates the least impact to the community.
Implement strategies to attract and retain businesses that offer local employment. -Work to keep property taxes affordable by
reducing costs, implementing a hiring freeze and reviewing spending.
No data centres without community consultation. They provide no jobs, but bring with them many issues like increasing cost of hydro, and power disruptions. When using water to cool, the waste water discharged raises overall water temperatures which permanently disrupts habitats. Huge machines for cooling create high noise levels for their neighbours.
Continue to promote tourism and our community as a place to work and play. - Find ways to help our community organizations thrive.
More leadership during flooding and other natural disaster situations.
