Cobourg closures will accommodate boat lift-out and Harvest Festival

It's a big weekend in Cobourg, not just with the Downtown Business Improvement Area Harvest Festival and Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre Walk A Mile event on Saturday, Oct. 3, but also with annual Cobourg Marina boat lift-out and hauling.
Which means closures of certain roads and parking lots.
To accommodate the boat lift, closures include the Cobourg Marina parking lot and Division Street south of The Esplanade. On Hibernia Street (south of Third) and Third Street (between Hibernia and The Esplanade), there won't be a full closure – expect delays.
And there will be an extended closure of The Esplanade, including east and west parking lots, which will run from 7 a.m. Sept. 30 through 5 p.m. Oct. 4.
As well, pedestrian access will be restricted in areas where heavy equipment is operating. Every effort will be made to reopen roads and walkways when it is safe to do so.
Meanwhile, downtown on Oct. 3, the Harvest Festival will bring a full day of activities and entertainment – live music, a street market featuring local artisans and guest vendors, photo ops, food trucks, live animals and more – as well as the Walk A Mile event. A block south of downtown, the Cobourg Farmers' Market gives visitors another opportunity to shop local at the Rotary Harbourfrong Park.
To accommodate the festivities, certain roads will be closed from 7:30 a.m. Oct. 3 through 7:30 a.m. Oct. 4 – Second Street (between King Street West and Albert), Third Street (between Albert and King Street West), George Street (closed to through traffic at Covert) and King Street West (between Spring and Second).
Local businesses will remain open during the event – motorists are asked to use alternate routes and follow posted signage while the closures are in place.
The Town of Cobourg also reminds everyone that municipal parking is in the low-season period, with the first three hours of parking offered free (with regular rates applying thereafter – for more information, visit cobourg.ca/parking).
