Piccini announces $6-million boost for local health care

Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini this week announced a $6-million investment in health-care services throughout Northumberland County – specifically Northumberland Hills Hospital, Campbellford Memorial Hospital and the Community Health Centres of Northumberland.
For NHH, there will be $2,909,700 in additional base funding for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, representing a 3.1% increase from the previous fiscal year. As well, $1,284,713 will come through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund to support critical infrastructure renewal and improvements (including replacement of the hospital's cooling tower). Finally, there is $389,200 in incremental Surgical Recovery Funding to support additional surgical activity to address concerns over demand and wait times.
For CMH, there will be $1,116,700 in additional base funding for the 2026-2027 fiscal year, representing a 4% increase from the previous fiscal year. As well, $175,576 will come through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund to support critical infrastructure renewal and improvements. Finally, there is $118,500 for additional CT hours to increase diagnostic-imaging capacity for more timely access.
For the CHCN, $189,070 is awarded through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund to support HVAC upgrades at their Port Hope facility.
These investments total $6,183,459 in support of hospital operations, infrastrucure improvements, additional CT capacity and surgical recovery, helping deliver care to patients closer to home.
“Strong local health care starts with making sure our hospitals and health-care facilities have the resources they need to provide high-quality care closer to home,” Piccini stated in the announcement.
“These investments will support important infrastructure improvements, increase access to diagnostic imaging and surgical care, and provide our local hospitals with additional resources to meet the needs of patients across Northumberland.”
