Low Season brings parking changes in Cobourg

Formerly beginning during the Thanksgiving weekend, Cobourg's “Low Season” parking regulations are now in effect.
In a press release issued Sept. 18, the town announced that this year's Low Season began Sept 15 and will run through May 14 – with the High Season running May 15 to Sept. 14.
While downtown parking (on-street and in lots) is free for the first three hours year-round (and $2.50 per hour thereafter), Low Season finds waterfront parking lots and on-street spaces free for the first three hours (and $2.50 per our or $20 per day thereafter). High Season rates are $5 an hour or $40 a day.
In all cases, parking is enforced 24/7.
The town reminds everyone of the parking permits available for purchase – on-line at parking.cobourg.ca, from the Municipal Law Enforcement and Licensing Services office (201 Second St.) and Victoria Hall (55 King St. W). Two vehicles can be registered on one parking permit, and both can utilize the permit at the same time.
For Cobourg residents, the $10/month pass is valid for parking in downtown and waterfront lots, and for on-street parking. It includes overnight parking in lots and on-street downtown year-round.
For Northumberland County residents, the $40/month pass is valid for parking in downtown and waterfront lots, and for on-street parking. For overnight, however, it is only good in lots.
For Downtown Business Improvement Area employees, the $20/month pass is valid for downtown parking lots, and does not include waterfront-designated areas.
For waterfront visitors, there are $35/month Low Season and $80/month High Season passes, as well as a $320 pass good for the whole High Season. These are valid for parking only in waterfront lots and waterfront on-street spaces, and not valid for downtown. These passes are not good for overnight parking.
For overnight parking (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.), $10/night or $100/month overnight passes are available for use in all municipal parking lots.
Accessible parking is free for Cobourg residents who have registered for an annual Cobourg Resident Accessible Permit, good in both accessible and other lawful parking spaces. Non-residents are required to pay applicable parking rates. Accessible on-street parking spaces have a three-hour time limit.
