Public Information Centres highlight work planned for 2027

The Town of Cobourg announces an upcoming Public Information Centre that will offer information on planned improvements in two areas.
One will be planned reconstruction on Anne Street between College Street and University Avenue East, while the other will be a look at sidewalk reconstruction work planned for 2027.
The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 21 in the Spoolon Room at the Cobourg Community Centre, 750 D'Arcy St.
For Anne Street, work planned – at no cost to the property owners – includes replacement of the existing water main, sanitary sewer and storm sewer, as well as a full reconstruction of the roadway, curbs and concrete sidewalks. Water and sanitary service connections will also be replaced from the new mains to the property line, and connected to existing private services. Work is expected to begin next spring, subject to budget approval.
Sidewalks affected by planned work include Heath Street between William and Burnham (200 metres on the north side), University Avenue East between D'Arcy and Campbell (100 metres on the south side), University Avenue East between Campbell and Cottesmore Avenue (200 metres on the north side) and Munroe Street (210 metres from Division Street going east).
These projects aim to improve pedestrian connectivity and provide safe, accessible walking routes with new concrete as well as associated curb and entrance modifications, grading, restoration and accessibility improvements. Work is anticipated to begin next summer, pending budget approval.
There is the opportunity with both projects to review plans, ask questions, identify any concerns and provide feedback to the project team.
