Brighton man charged with uttering threats in Cobourg

A Brighton man is facing charges for allegedly uttering threats against a mother and her child in Cobourg. On Wednesday, at approximately 5:30 p.m., police responded to a disturbance outside a business in the area of Division Street and Elgin Street East.

The complainant reported that her friend had become aggressive and threatened to harm her and her child. During the incident, the suspect allegedly approached the woman while in possession of a knife.

Officers attended the area, located the suspect nearby, and arrested him without incident. Police seized the knife, and no physical injuries were reported. He was released with a future court date.
