Former file factory clean up in Port Hope expected to start next week

Starting next Monday, residents will notice a clean up crew at the old file factory in Port Hope.

Cliffshore Excavating & Paving will be working at 121 Cavan Street removing the building remnants and fire-related debris.

The work comes following a June fire, which caused extensive damage.

Municipal Enforcement staff issued an order to have the property remediated.

Since this work was not completed within the prescribed timeframe, Council approved the clean-up of the property at their July 2026 meeting.

The Municipality has now retained Cliffshore Excavating & Paving to carry out the necessary remediation.

This work will proceed at the owner's expense and is expected to take approximately two weeks.

There may be temporary lane disruptions and increased truck traffic in the area.
