A Camborne man is facing charges for allegedly fleeing from police over the weekend.

On Saturday evening Cobourg Police were on patrol in the area D’Arcy Street and Elgin Street East when they attempted to stop a vehicle for an apparent traffic violation, the vehicle fled. Police did not pursue the vehicle.

The following night, police again noticed the same vehicle, but authorities claim the driver accelerated away at a high rate of speed and extinguished the vehicle’s lights.

The officers identified the 18-year-old driver and vehicle. He is charged with dangerous driving and stunt driving among other charges.

His vehicle was impounded for two weeks and his license was suspended for 30 days.
