Cobourg man charged with intimate partner violence

A 28-year-old Cobourg man is facing multiple charges following an intimate partner violence investigation.

On July 8, Cobourg Police Service began an investigation after receiving information regarding allegations of intimate partner violence.

As a result of the investigation, on July 10, members of CIB, with the assistance of uniform patrol officers, conducted a traffic stop in the Town of Cobourg and arrested a 28-year-old Cobourg man without incident. The accused was charged with sexual assault, assault – spousal, and distribute intimate image without consent.

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing. The name of the accused is withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
