Northumberland County saw a busy housing market in May, with home sales up about 24 per cent compared to April.

According to the Central Lakes Association of REALTORS, 128 homes were sold across the county in May, an increase from the 103 the month before. The average selling price, however, declined slightly from just over $714,000 in April to about $695,000 in May. New listings also increased, with 380 properties hitting the market during the month, making it a 17 per cent increase over April. Homes remained on the market for an average of 42 days before selling.

CLAR CEO, Wendy Giroux, says affordable housing remains a challenge across the region and welcomes federal and provincial efforts to reduce development costs and increase housing supply to support long-term growth and affordability within communities.
