June 25 is Canadian Multiculturalism Day, with a Port Hope celebration planned that organizers from the New Canadians Centre are calling Around The World In Northumberland.
This free family-friendly event at Memorial Park (or at Columbus Hall in case of bad weather)

is part of the fifth annual Canadian Multicultural Festival series, and comes just as the NCC is marking 10 years of welcoming government-assisted refugees to the region.

From 6 to 8 p.m., enjoy live multicultural music and dance performances, cultural displays and the opportunity to taste refreshments and snacks inspired by cultures and traditions from around the world.

β€œThe Multicultural Festival shows what our community is capable of – people coming out to dance, eat together, share stories and connect with neighbours they might never have met otherwise, NCC Executive Director Jeeniraj Thevasagayam said in the announcement.

Also to celebrate, Dr. Neera Jeyabalan and Dr. Greg Bishop are matching donations up to $10,000 until June 30.

This event is funded by the Municipality of Port Hope through the Community Strategic Initiatives Program. For more information, visit https://nccpeterborough.ca/multiculturalfestival-2026/
