Battle of the Badges raises $16,000-plus for local youth

The Cobourg Police Service and Cobourg Fire Department are pleased to announce that their third annual Battle of the Badges hockey game raised more than $16,600 to benefit the youth-mentoring programs of Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Durham and Northumberland.

The April 4 event at the Cobourg Community Centre welcomed some 1,100 community members – families, youth and local supporters – to watch the face-off. This year's winner of the Chris Garrett Memorial Trophy (donated by CJ's Tap and Grill) was the Cobourg Police Service.

Funds were raised by donations at the door and with the generous support of event sponsors. Both police and firefighters extend their thanks to Fan Zone Sponsors (New Amherst Homes, K9ine Security), Intermission Sponsors (KISS Contracting, Canadian Tire Cobourg, Moffatt Bros. Roofing and Oxygen Yoga and Fitness of Cobourg and Port Hope) and Media Sponsor (MBC Media).
