Cobourg names new Deputy Police Chief

Tina Maier will serve as the new Deputy Police Chief in Cobourg, becoming the first woman to serve in a senior leadership role in Cobourg.

Maier who is a Superintendent with the Ontario Provincial Police currently serves as Bureau Commander of the Security Bureau. In that role, she oversees the OPP General Headquarters Detachment, Queens Park Detachment, Justice Officials Protection and Investigations Section, Security Assessment Unit and Security Enquiries Unit. She is responsible for strategic security planning, organizational risk management, security screening standards, and the protection of government assets, infrastructure and public officials.

“Tina’s career reflects a combination of operational experience, leadership and innovation,” said Chief Chris Leather. “Her background in major investigations, public safety initiatives and member wellness will be a tremendous asset to our organization. I look forward to working with her as we continue building a modern and community-focused police service.”

Maier, with over 30 years in police is expected to start with the Cobourg Police on Nov. 30.
