Community Care Northumberland is proud to announce that this year's Hike, Bike and Bark raised $72,840 for the Ed's House Hospice Care Centre.

Held Sept. 27 in Cobourg's Victoria Park, the event saw 200 participants (and more than 50 of their four-legged friends) turn out to walk and ride for the families and individuals who rely on Ed's House for comfort, dignity and support during life's most difficult moments – all provided free of charge.

Each year, the top individual and team fundraisers are recognized with their names on a plaque at Ed's House. The steering committee offers its sincere thanks to top individual fundraiser Mary Doig (who raised $3,270) and top team fundraisers HG for Hospice (who brought in $6,200).

For Jordan Prosper, it was his first Hike, Bike and Bark as Community Care's Chief Executive Officer.

“I was blown away by the community's spirit and generosity,” Prosper said in the announcement.

“Seeing so many people and their dogs come out to support Ed's House was incredibly moving.

“Every dollar raised helps ensure that families in Northumberland can receive compassionate hospice care close to home. On behalf of everyone at Community Care Northumberland and Ed's House, thank you.”

Community Care and Ed's House also extend sincere thanks to the event's first-ever Presenting Sponsor, CPS Wood Products, whose support helped make this year's event possible. Thanks go as well to the many sponsors and the volunteers and every participant.
